The moment when it all comes crashing down on us!

Unknown coefficient is a contemporary dance piece for five performers that seeks to break down the moment of shock in order to unroll it in time, to play it and replay it, to turn it upside down in all directions in order to reveal its entanglement and bring out its beauty and horror. The moment when opposing forces come together to create a single material: power/fear, control/hesitation, perseverance/abandonment, rebellion/self-consciousness, one movement driving and the other freezing. Create a dance of contrasts, jerkiness and flow, aestheticism and emotion. Choreographer Marie Gourdain is interested in the coexistence of opposites. To the moment when things give way, when the reasonable no longer exists! To the absurd. Her first source of inspiration is Jacques-Louis David's painting The Sabines, because it represents the moment just before the confrontation, just before the clash, a stopped moment. It contains all the elements that will collide. Clash the choreographic materials! Mix the motif of violence with that of gentleness, that of blindness and that of revolt. In other words, on the one hand, work that focuses on gesture and posture, with an emphasis on form, and on the other, highly expressive and sensual work, connected to emotion, activating a fluid, dynamic physicality.
